Enter the invoice price excluding GST. Final payable tax is determined by the government system.
BH Tax for Next 2 Years
The BH Series Road Tax Calculator estimates the motor vehicle tax payable for the next two-year block using the vehicle invoice price excluding GST and the fuel type. It is designed for users who want a transparent calculation instead of a black-box estimate.
BH Series tax rates used by the calculator
| Invoice price excluding GST | Base BH rate | Diesel | Electric vehicle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Below ₹10 lakh | 8% | 10% | 6% |
| ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh | 10% | 12% | 8% |
| Above ₹20 lakh | 12% | 14% | 10% |
The notified framework sets base rates of 8%, 10% and 12% according to invoice-price slabs. Diesel vehicles add two percentage points while electric vehicles reduce two percentage points. Petrol/CNG calculations therefore use the base slab rate.
Two-year BH road tax formula
The result is rounded upward to the next integer in this calculator. The 1.25 factor and the two-year fraction come from the notified formula rather than from a private estimate.
Example: ₹15 lakh petrol vehicle
For an invoice price of ₹15,00,000 excluding GST, the base rate falls in the 10% slab. The notional motor vehicle tax is ₹1,50,000. Applying the notified two-year formula gives an estimated two-year BH tax of ₹25,000.
| Invoice price | ₹15,00,000 |
|---|---|
| Fuel | Petrol/CNG |
| Applicable rate | 10% |
| Estimated 2-year BH tax | ₹25,000 |
BH Series road tax calculator for car and bike
People often search separately for a BH Series road tax calculator for a car, bike or two-wheeler. FMtak keeps these searches on one authoritative calculator because the core notified calculation is driven by the taxable invoice value, price slab and fuel adjustment rather than by creating thin near-duplicate pages for each vehicle label. Select the relevant vehicle type in the interface, enter the invoice price excluding GST and verify the result against the vehicle record shown on VAHAN/Parivahan.
Invoice price vs ex-showroom price vs on-road price
The most important input is the taxable invoice value required by the BH framework. Do not paste the complete on-road price if it includes GST, insurance, accessories, registration fees or dealer charges. If your dealer quote shows several totals, ask for or identify the invoice value excluding GST before calculating. A wrong price base can create a large difference across repeated two-year payments.
What the calculator does not include
The result is focused on BH motor vehicle tax. It does not automatically add every registration fee, hypothecation charge, smart-card charge, dealer charge, state incentive or portal fee. Those items can change independently and should be checked on the live government workflow.
How to verify before payment
- Calculate the estimate here.
- Open the current Parivahan/VAHAN payment or registration flow.
- Confirm the invoice value and fuel category.
- Compare the portal-generated tax with the estimate.
- If there is a mismatch, treat the government portal/registering authority as final.

Frequently Asked Questions
What price should I enter in the BH tax calculator?
Enter the vehicle invoice price excluding GST, because that is the price basis used by the notified BH tax framework.
What are the basic BH tax slabs?
The notified base rates are 8 percent below ₹10 lakh, 10 percent for ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh, and 12 percent above ₹20 lakh, before fuel-type adjustments.
Why does the calculator multiply by 1.25?
The two-year formula in the notified rule applies a 1.25 factor to the motor vehicle tax amount and then multiplies by 2/15.
Is the 14-year total guaranteed?
No. It is only an illustration based on repeating the current two-year amount for seven blocks. Future rules or tax bases may change.
Where should I verify the final tax?
Verify the payable amount on the current Parivahan or VAHAN flow and with the registering authority before payment.
Does the same BH road-tax formula work for cars and bikes?
The calculator applies the notified BH price-slab and fuel formula. Vehicle-specific eligibility, classification and the final payable entry should still be checked on the government system.
Is this the official VAHAN BH Series tax calculator?
No. FMtak is independent. It explains and applies the notified formula, while VAHAN/Parivahan and the registering authority remain the official source for the final payable amount.
