How corrections are handled
When a material error is confirmed, we should correct the article and, where appropriate, add a correction or update note explaining what changed. Minor spelling, grammar or formatting fixes may be made without a formal note when they do not alter the meaning.
Updates versus corrections
An update adds new information to an evolving story. A correction fixes information that was materially wrong when published. We aim to distinguish between the two.
